Terms of Service

Last updated 5 October 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and [legal business name] ("TheLight", "we", "us"), the provider of TheLight CRM (the iOS app and the web dashboard at app.thelightcrm.com) and this website (together, "the service"). By creating an account, joining a workspace, or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you use the service on behalf of a business, you agree to these terms for that business and confirm you have authority to do so. "You" then means both you and that business.

2. Accounts and workspaces

  • Workspaces. Each business has a workspace. The person who creates it is its owner and can invite team members and assign their roles (owner, admin, salesman, member or viewer). The owner is responsible for who has access and what they can do.
  • Eligibility. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract.
  • Your login. Keep your password private and tell us promptly at the address below if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your login.
  • Accurate information. Keep your account details, such as your name and email address, accurate and current.

3. Plans, billing and cancellation

  • Plans. Current plans and prices are listed on our pricing page. Prices are per user, in US dollars, and exclude applicable taxes.
  • Payment. Subscriptions are billed in advance for each billing period through our payment processor, Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
  • Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to your subscription. The change takes effect from your next billing period.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and is not renewed after that.
  • Refunds. Fees already paid are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or we agree otherwise in writing.
  • Late payment. If a payment fails and isn't resolved after notice, we may limit the workspace to read-only access until it is.

4. Your data

  • You own it. The records you put into the service, such as customers, leads, jobs, invoices, notes, messages and files, belong to your business. We don't claim ownership of them.
  • Permission to run the service. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display your data only as needed to provide, secure and support the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Your responsibilities. You are responsible for having the right to collect and store the information you enter about other people, and for honouring their privacy rights.
  • Export and deletion. You can export your records at any time. Deleted records go to Recently Deleted for 30 days, during which an owner or admin can restore them, and are then permanently deleted. Deleting your account removes your login and profile. When an owner deletes a workspace, its records are deleted too.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

  • break any law, or infringe anyone's privacy, intellectual property or other rights;
  • send spam, or send messages to people who haven't agreed to receive them (see section 6);
  • upload malware, or content that is unlawful, harassing or deceptive;
  • access another workspace's data, test or work around the service's security, or overload its systems;
  • copy, resell, or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product.

6. Email and text messages

The service lets your business send emails and text messages to its own customers. When you do, you are the sender, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to those messages, including the CAN-SPAM Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. That includes having consent where the law requires it, and identifying your business in each message. Recipients can reply STOP to stop further texts from your business, and the service honours that automatically.

7. Connected services

Some features work with services run by other companies, such as Stripe for payments, QuickBooks for accounting, Facebook for lead ads, Twilio for text messages, and Apple for the iOS app. When you connect or use one, that company's own terms also apply to your use of it. We aren't responsible for those services, and a feature that depends on one may stop working if that company changes or ends it.

8. AI features

Optional features such as lead scoring and reply drafting use AI. Their output can be wrong or incomplete, so check it before relying on it. Drafted replies are never sent automatically; a person on your team reviews and sends them. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what data these features use.

9. Custom software projects

If we design or build custom software for your business, that project is governed by a separate written agreement, which sets out its scope, price, schedule and who owns the result. If that agreement conflicts with these terms, the project agreement controls for that project.

10. Changes to the service

We improve the service over time and may add, change or remove features. If we remove a major feature of a paid plan, we will tell you in advance. We work to keep the service available, but it may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance or by events outside our control. Unless you have a written service-level agreement with us, we don't guarantee any particular level of availability.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end access to the service if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your payment remains overdue after notice, or if needed to protect the service, other users or the public. Where it's reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem and export your data.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted. You are responsible for decisions you make using information in the service, such as routes, scores or reports.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither you nor we will be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from the service or these terms. Our total liability for any claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them to.

14. Indemnity

You agree to defend and compensate us for claims brought by others that arise from data you put into the service, messages you send through it, or your breach of these terms or of the law.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [state], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Any proceedings will take place in the state or federal courts located in [state], unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you through the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
